Sandals Barbados vs Sandals Royal Barbados

Barbados might be one of our top destinations because of so many things. Captivating turquoise water, cliffs on the north side, and very friendly people make this place even better. What can’t you love? The easy part was going; the hard part was deciding which Sandals resort in Barbados to stay in.

On the island, there were two Sandals resorts. Now, let us figure out which one is best for you. The best part is that the resorts are next to each other and are only separated by a sidewalk outside the resorts. Besides that, Sandals resorts are great because they have “exchange privileges,” which means that you can use the amenities at any of the other Sandals resorts on the same island (barring Royal Plantation in Jamaica). The Royal Barbados pool party with the DJ is a great place to start if you want to get some ricotta and garlic confit pizza on the Barbados side. There are more pools, restaurants, entertainment, and pubs to choose from when you use these exchange rights.

Is everything accessible to everyone? Is there a big difference in which part you choose to stay on?

Sandals Barbados was the first Sandals resort in Barbados because it took over an old resort that was already there. These suites appear to display their age some more, but they are an inexpensive way to get to the island and still have a great all-inclusive trip. It could be a good idea if you don’t plan to use your room very often and are just there to store your belongings while you are going on an adventure outside.

On the other hand, Sandals Royal Barbados was constructed in the last few years and felt a lot more modern and fresh than the other side. And the rooms followed a similar suit as they were a little more extravagant. If you find yourself liking these types of rooms, then it is the best for you. But that comes with a cost. If you also want every part of our vacation to feel like a break, you will most likely enjoy the swim-up suites and the rooms with a serenity soaking tub on the balcony that looks out over the ocean, which the Barbados resort does have a few of these. Here, you can enjoy a little bit of extra glamor to let us relax and enjoy our space. Let’s not forget about the room service, either. All of the rooms on the Royal Barbados side have it, which is a plus if it is a must for you.

So, what else is unique?

Sandals Barbados is a lot more laid back than Sandals Royal Barbados. Not to say that Royal doesn’t have great places to relax. In fact, we’ve discovered that all Sandals resorts have areas that are meant to be more relaxing than others. But there aren’t many people in the pools at Sandals Barbados, other than maybe a pool volleyball game at the main pool near the beach from time to time. This makes the pools great for reading or just having a tropical drink. Live DJs and pool parties by the pool? The Royal Seaside Pool at Royal Barbados is the best place for that kind of thing. There are more options than just the two extremes, so if you want something in the middle, there are many other pools out there on both sides. Tourists can also use the rooftop pool and hot tub at Royal.

Royal is also a lot more crowded at night, and a lot of the nighttime entertainment seems to be taking place there. There are activities at the bar on the rooftop pool and the courtyard next to the bowling alley, where there are also events. There are also TVs and lounge chairs outside of the bowling alley, which means that all football games bring many people to watch. Royal’s rondavels with their own private pools might not be as scary as they used to be now. So let those fears go because you are still far enough away from the noise and bustle of the city to enjoy your secluded villa in peace and tranquility. Sandals Barbados has its own entertainment, including an open-air piano bar and live music in the yard in which several restaurant chains meet. These events are a lot more low-key than some of the events at Royal.
