On the other hand, Western manga fans probably don’t want to throw away their new $10 books at the drop of a hat. As a result, you’ll need a lot of space in your bag if you want to take multiple series installments with you everywhere.
It’s time to get your Kindle. If there’s one thing that e-books and e-readers have done to make book nerds’ lives better, it’s let us each bring a virtual library with us at all times. In order to read old-school, black-and-white manga on your Kindle, you can’t go wrong with either the Kindle Paperwhite or the Kindle Oasis. These e-ink readers have been available in the United States since 2018. They come with a unique technology that only works for manga reading so that you can read it faster. You can get manga from ComiXology.
ComiXology is owned by Amazon, so there is a lot of overlap between its collection and the Kindle stores. It’s still important to mention for one purpose: ComiXology Unlimited (CU). Readers pay $5.99 a month to get access to more than 25,000 graphic novels, comics, and manga sequences. They can read them all. It’s also possible to buy individual volumes that aren’t in the CU library from the complete collection of comiXology, which has more than 100,000 items that you can start reading right away. If you also like western comics, comiXology lets you connect your DC Comics and Marvel accounts so that you can read all of your digital comics from one place.
You can get manga from HOOPLA.
Hoopla is a digital-lending service that may be available to you through your local library. It works with Kindle Fire devices and lets you borrow digital books. You can use this app that tracks out music albums, e-books, e-audiobooks, and electronic graphic novels, which include both western comics and manga series, with your library card number. You can also use this app to listen to audiobooks.
It’s a sad thought that Hoopla doesn’t work with e-ink Kindle devices like the Paperwhite and the Oasis, but you can’t use it here. As long as you have a library card, Hoopla is hard to match. See whether your library card has Hoopla, and then use the app to get the next manga installment you want to read.
