The United Kingdom is an island nation in the north of Europe and includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Its capital is London which is known for its rich culture – the Tower of London, Shakespeare’s Globe, Big Ben clock tower, Buckingham Palace, Stonehenge and more.
The United Kingdom has 242,495 km2 of land and is a popular tourist country. It is a very diverse country with mountains on the north-west part of the country to hills on the south and southwest, and beaches on Northern Ireland. What about their camping destinations?
Camping in the United Kingdom
This country has many sights for you to discover. I already told you about some of them but you can also visit the London Eye, Palm House, Belfast castle, museums and churches when you camp. Now let’s see where you can camp and relax in the United Kingdom and what do camps have to offer.
John O’groats Caravan Park
This camp is located on the north of the country, on the Highland and Islands of Scotland. If you like peace, this is a camp for you as you will be able to have a great panoramic view on the Portland Firth, Island of Stroma and Orkney Islands.
They are open from April to November. You can bring your dog to the camp; just have him on the leash. There is no shade in the camp as there are no trees, just clean ocean air, and peace.
What to do in John O’groats Caravan Park? You can take a ride with a ferry and see Orkney, have a sightseeing trip to Duncansby Head, walk on the beach where you can find shells and grey seals, see castles and much more. This is a camp where you will find peace and time to forget on daily obligations.
Glen Nevis Caravan and Camping Park
Glen Nevis is a camp with 350 pitch places and can be found in the Southern Highlands of Scotland, close to Fort William. The camp is open from the middle of the March till 5th of November and offers a nice view of the surrounding mountains.
Camp with a tent, caravan or motorhome, or stay in one of their camping pods (great for couples) and holiday caravan (for groups). They also have other accommodation options so you won’t have problems with picking the right one for you. Winter campers are also welcome here since you will be able to enjoy in the snow.
The camp received many awards on which they are proud of. When you will feel hungry, you can go to their restaurant & lounge bar and try modern Scottish dishes. This is a perfect place for walking, cycling through the forest paths, and seeing the Glenfinnan viaduct and the Arisaig sandy beaches by a steam train that was used in the Harry Potter film.
Linwater Caravan Park
This is a small family camp close to the Livingston with 60 pitch plots for you to camp with a tent, caravan or motorhome. The camp is open from 13th of March till 3th of November. Linwater Caravan Park doesn’t have any shade. Families can stay in one of the two self-catering lodges with all the luxury that you have at home. If you want to stay in the lodge, book it before going to their camp or else you may be disappointed.
They have one more accommodation option and it is staying in the wooden pods. If you choose this option, you can rent sleeping bags there. The larger pods are available for four people and smaller ones for three people. You can shop, visit a doctor or eat two miles away from the camp, in East Calder. Visit Livingston and also see Edinburgh attractions such as Edinburg Castle, Palace of Holyrood House, St Giles Catedral or famous Edinburg Zoo.

Best Way of Camping in the United Kingdom
If you want to go to the United Kingdom, now you have one reason more to go and explore this interesting country with rich history and culture. You can camp in one of the camps I am suggesting as you will be able to see local sights of different parts of the country.
Families and solo campers can pick more quiet camps where you will find your peace or more active and fun having camps. If you want to be in quietness, pick John O’groats Caravan Park, Glen Nevis Caravan and Camping Park or Linwater Caravan Park. The other two are more appropriate for fun-loving people and family campers. Enjoy your staying and have pleasant holidays in the United Kingdom.
Traveling has always been a part of my life. Since I was a child I’ve been dreaming to travel abroad, experience new cultures, speaking other languages etc. After working in the travel industry for a short time (and later dedicated myself to other professions), I’ve found interesting to start a travel blog with my life partner.
