A beach is a place I’ve been to three times. We went there three times: once as guests of the resort and twice on our dime. During our most recent stay, we were given a better room. All of my thoughts are mine.

Pirates Island: A Guide to the Beaches Turks and Caicos Water Park

The Pirates Island Water Park is near the French Village in the back of Beaches Resort. There are some small cabanas in the style of lanais and some lounge chairs at the water park. Like other parts of the resort, you should book these early to ensure they are available.

There are clean beach towels right at the water park and rafts for the lazy river and slides. If you don’t have a boat, you won’t need much. For example, you won’t need water shoes.

Your Beaches family vacation includes free entry to the Pirates Island water park. On vacation, we usually spent an hour or two at a place instead of the whole day.

Water Slides

As you’d expect at a water park, Pirates Island has a variety of water slides. Three giant slides are next to each other in the water park. You’ll have to carry your rafts up the stairs. You can choose between a double raft and a single raft.

Once you land in the pool, you’ll have to leave immediately so the next guest can “land” safely. You can’t swim in this pool.

There are also two smaller water slides in the same area as Bobby Dee’s. These aren’t for toddlers but are best for kids who find the three more giant slides too big.

Blue Slide (Bareback, Closed) – The blue slide is the fastest and most intense. It’s a dark tube that has no openings. People who don’t like being squished or kids who get scared easily should skip this one.

Yellow Slide (Tube, Half-Pipe): This slide is outside and has many turns and twists. Both kids and adults will enjoy it.

Red Slide (Tube, Partially Enclosed): The red slide is the tallest. It goes back and forth between a half-pipe and a tube. In the closed parts, fun lights look like disco lights.

Smaller Slides (Bareback): The two bareback slides for younger kids are a half-pipe and a tube. Parents can go down the half-pipe with their younger children.

Kiddie Slides: The pirate-themed waterpark has a short tube and small slides with cushions at the bottom.

Splash and Kids’ Play Area

In the middle of the lazy river is a splash area with a pirate theme. There are water cannons, water jets, and smaller water slides here. This area is excellent for little kids; they’ll love splashing around in it.

There is also a separate area with water jets for splashing around. At the water park, kids were always running around this area to cool off.

The zero-entry pool in the water park will also be fun for little kids. Even though Beaches have several pools all over the resort, this one is great for young children.

Beaches Resort has a lazy river.

I’ve always liked lazy rivers, so I’m glad the Beaches Turks and Caicos water park have one in the middle. Grab a single or double raft along the side. Then you can enter the 650-foot lazy river from several different entry points.

I noticed that the lazy river water was more relaxed than the water in the main pools when we went. But it wasn’t cold and easy to get used to.

This is a calm river with a few waterfalls that could be avoided. Most of the time, we would go around the river a few times before getting out.

boy surfing

SurfStream Surf Simulator

The SurfStream Surf Simulator is one of the most popular parts of the water park. My kids loved standing up and surfing.

You’ll wear a helmet and learn how to surf after signing a waiver. Before letting you go on your own, the employees do a great job of helping you find your balance. To stand-up surf, you need to be 52 inches tall.

On the surf simulator, there is also the chance to do bodyboarding. That needs you to be at least 42 inches tall.

In Pirates Island Water Park, you also have other things to do.

At the Pirates Island Water Park, there are other things to do. One of these is the Port Royal game room, which is outside and has air hockey, foosball, pool, and other games. There is also an X-Box lounge with screens and video games.

There is also a nightclub at the waterpark. Teens can go there earlier in the evening, but only adults can go there later.

Restaurants at the Beaches Water Park

With all that going on, you might get hungry. There are some places to eat right in the waterpark. The giant pirate ship is home to Bobby Dee’s, a restaurant with a 50s theme. It has a soft-serve ice cream counter, popcorn, cotton candy, burgers, fries, pizza, and soft-serve ice cream that customers can serve themselves.

Bobby Dee’s has seating both inside and outside. It’s open from 11 am to 6 am, so it’s a great place to get something to eat late at night. The pool outside of Bobby Dee’s has a swim-up bar where kids can get drinks that don’t have alcohol in them.

Two food trucks are also there. One, called Mr. Mac, has ten kinds of mac and cheese. The other is called Curls n Swirls, and it sells ice cream.

Water Park Rooms

All of the rooms at Beaches are close to the waterpark, just like all other activities and amenities. The French Village is the most convenient because it is next to the water park. When I returned to the resort a second time, I stayed in the French Village. I loved how close it was to the water park.

Even though the resort looks big, it takes little time to walk through. So, if you want to go to the water park, you can relax about where your room is.

Above-the-water adventures

Beaches have a lot more to do with water than just the waterpark. Snorkeling, glass-bottom boat rides, water trikes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and scuba diving are all things you can do at the beach.

There are also six pools around the resort. Four of them are more extensive, and two of them are smaller. The most exciting pool is in the Italian Village, where things happen all day.

Places to sunbathe

There are lounge chairs all over the water park, just for sunbathing with sprinklers, and a Curls’ n Swirls frozen yogurt truck. The frozen yogurt is excellent and a lot better than the ice cream at Bobby Dee’s, which is close by.

Insider Tips and Hidden Gems

Bring sunscreen. Even the best sunscreens that are waterproof can be washed off on waterslides. You must put on more sunscreen every two hours to keep from getting burned. At the water park, we always see some poor person who looks like a lobster. How could this ruin the trip?

Bring flip-flops. When the sun is out, the cement in the water park gets very hot. Flip-flops are a simple way to protect your feet while walking around the park.

Go to the frozen yogurt truck. The flavors changed every day, and we liked all of them.

You can get a wet lunch. A food truck next to the water park serves macaroni and cheese. It’s not a gourmet lunch, but it’s easy to eat when your bathing suit is wet.

The Pirates Island Waterpark at Beaches is set up intelligently, fitting a lot of fun into a small area.

Between the Caribbean, Italian, and French villages at the Beaches, Turks and Caicos resort is where the waterpark is. (Technically, it’s part of the French Village.) It’s great.

Even though the park is small, they make good use of the space and fit many things in there. There are three giant water slides, two smaller slides, a surf simulator, sprinklers, a lazy river, and a separate pirate-themed waterpark for small children. Most slides have a height limit of 42 inches, but on one of the shorter slides, parents can go down with their shorter children (i.e., kid on chest).
